  • Why Everyone Should Watch Sci-fi Movies

Those that deter from sci-fi movies do so from either two things: the tech stuff gets over their head and they can’t wrap their head around certain concepts, or simply, the movies bore them. For me, sci-fi, especially a good sci-fi move, one that has my butt glued to the chair, will always have me wanting more.

For me, the thing with sci-fi is that there are so many possibilities as to how our world, the real world, can be shaped. These possibilities touch a variety of areas such as space, time, AI or machines, the digital space, etc. While sci-fi movies portray the possibilities or things that are imagined, and many may think, “Thank goodness that hasn’t actually happened .” There’s a silent word at the end that is often not heard or spoken about. To rephrase – Thank goodness that hasn’t actually happened… yet.

As much as we think we know what is going on in the world and in the future, we actually don’t know what is going to occur. We can only project. We can only estimate. We can only hope. We use the words “likely” or “expecting” because we cannot use the word “will”. We do not know what our world will look like or how society and technology will change or influence one another.

And while that truth remains, we can only hold onto the possibility, the probability, that maybe, just maybe, one of these movies will hit the nail on the head of what our future holds.
